Operations and Maintenance (O&M) for solar refers to the ongoing management and upkeep required to ensure that a solar energy system operates efficiently and reliably over its lifespan. Proper O&M helps maximize the performance and longevity of the solar installation, minimizing downtime and preventing issues that could affect energy production.

A. Routine Inspections

  • Visual Inspection
    Regular checks of the solar panels, mounting structures, inverters, and other system components to identify issues.
  • Performance Monitoring
    Using monitoring systems and software to track the performance of the solar array, ensuring that it is generating the expected amount of electricity. This often includes reviewing data on energy production, system efficiency, and any deviations from expected performance.

B. Preventive Maintenance

  • Cleaning
    Removing dust, dirt, leaves, and other debris from the surface of the solar panels to ensure they remain efficient.
  • Component Check

C. Corrective Maintenance

    Gathering all the necessary paperwork, permits, and applications required to start the installation process.
  • Application:
    Submitting relevant applications for government incentives or permits (e.g., to SEDA in Malaysia for solar projects).
  • Procurement:
    Ordering and acquiring all necessary materials and equipment for the installation (solar panels, inverters, etc.).
